When the Swan bar closed they created a void for crossdresser night spot in Saturdays in NYC. That was the only place with crossdressers and shemale that were just having fun and not asking for dances or escorting. It was a fun place people came and left and there was no cover. Is there any new place like this at all in NYC?

I was a regular at Ina's cool CD/drag party. The restaurant that gave her the weekend venue became another victim of insane Manhattan rents. The lease was up and the landlord wanted three times the old rate...why NYC has become a retail wasteland...T-Mobile, Wolfgang Puck, TD Bank, etc. But that's a whole separate topic.
I don't think there's anything that's replaced Ina, as far as catering to part-time crossdressers and transvestites, and the men who admire them. Hopefully someone knows more than me.

I used to go to Inas qs well. Met my share there for sure. Its a shame tha the metro area does not cater or have a lounge for CDs and the like!!

I went to Ina's must be around 10 years ago now, with a companion who introduced me to Allanah Starr, a much more interesting person to talk to than her film career might suggest. The atmosphere was friendly and convivial, but if this kind of venue will probably not re-appear I suspect it is because most young people under 30 are not interested in 'niche' bars and clubs and are as comfortable going to open/fusion clubs as the clientele there are in having transgendered guests.

I thought it was a nice place, and it seems that when the original location closed, Ina moved the party to Hamuchi's @34 East 20th St, but it didn't last more than a couple of years and closed before 2011.

There is a small photo journal inside the second link, and no, that is not me collapsed on the street outside...
