Need a PS3 or PC game recommendation

I used to play the Delta Force series of games on the PC back in the day and enjoyed them.

Looking for a single player first-person shooter type game that is similar in concept to the old Delta Force games. Can anyone recommend something like this for PS3 or PC?

Not interested in multi-player, online, etc.

you can try Spec Ops PS3....its a third person military action game with a nice single player story
you can also try some of the socom ps3 games

Did you ever play the first three Rainbow Six games (Rainbow Six, Rogue Spear, Raven Shield)? Very different from what the series turned into once the third was ported to consoles in the original XBox era, causing the PC to stop being the lead platform. There's an extensive mission planning component, in which you study mission area blueprints, known enemy locations, and your mission objectives, and then put together an entry and clearing plan to complete the mission. The multiplayer was incredible for these games, but of course it is long since dead and you already stated you aren't particularly interested in that. The ORIGINAL Ghost Recon might be an even better choice, as it features outdoor missions like Delta Force.

Another possibility is SWAT 3 and SWAT 4. The former is available on GOG, and I think you can still get the latter on Amazon, although it might be out of print and hasn't yet made it to digital distribution. Both of them are excellent tactical shooters.

Finally, you might be interested in the Operation Flashpoint/ARMA series. People overblow the series's realism, and there have been long running interface/usability/AI problems with the series, but when it works, it works very, very well. If singleplayer is what you're most interested in, then Operation:Flashpoint (aka ARMA: Cold War Crisis) is the best option.

Well.... Far Cry 3 is an excellent FPS and it's available for ps3... maybe pc... but it might not be what you are looking for.

as tsmirandameadows said.....maybe some of the tom clancy ps3 shooter games might be something you may like......also try the Ghost Recon Advanced Warrior and Future Soldier franchises......

if you want a more scifi/futuristic/alien setting, you can try Killzone/Resistance/FarCry/Crisis games on the Ps3

Rage is great on PC, also if you're gonna go with Far Cry 3, go for the PC version, the console versions have loads of issues due to weak systems.

Definitely not interested in any of that. I'm looking for more realistic military, special ops, etc., kind of stuff.

for PC , ghost recon Advanced Warfighter 1 and 2 , really intense games.

also might want to try Operation Flashpoint Dragon Rising and Red River

as far as brand new (2013) FPS single player , highly tactical shooters, there's none I can think of right now. They're all multiplayer, or really gimped singleplayer.
