I have issues against some minorities and if someone extolled that minorities ABC's here then I might bring up their XYZ's. This board is consistently offensive to Republicans and American Christians (both minorities) and I don't see you defending them? Isn't the KKK a minority (good article on their rebirth in GQ this month)?

If people are going out of their way to attack others, especially on race, then it's going to be locked down on. Using a word, in context is not a specific attack on others (I'm not going to start debating it again).

If I was gay and someone called me "fag" or "faggot," I'd likely be offended, depending on the context. If I was out in a public place with a gay friend, and someone referred to him or her that way, I'd have a problem with them, and I'd make sure they knew it.

But I'm not gay, and if someone refers to me as a "faggot," all I can do is laugh. It doesn't apply to me, doesn't register with me, doesn't resonate with me. I can't be offended, hurt, or angry — it just isn't relevant.

There are people on HA — both the girls and those who admire them — who delight in pushing buttons and boundaries. To me, that's just part of the give and take of this medium, and not only is there nothing wrong with that, there's actually something right with it.

And if people truly go too far in their attempts to agitate and challenge — to rock the boat — there's a moderator who has the ability to step in. It doesn't seem to me like this thread has reached that level, and I'd be surprised if it did.
