On March 10, 1993, Bresciano was found shot to death.[2] He was 44 years old. In all, 17 shots were fired, 7 to the head and 10 in the chest and abdomen area while watching hockey in his Vimont, Laval, Quebec home. It is widely believed that his alleged role in illegal cigarette smuggling in Canada led to his murder. Rick Martel has stated in interviews that because of Bresciano's notoriety from being a popular professional wrestler, he was able to attract many customers to switch over to having him as a supplier of illegal cigarettes, thus crossing the mafia. According to various sources, right before his death Bresciano had confided to close friends that he knew his days were numbered. He was a nephew by marriage of Montreal crime boss Vic Cotroni, and was believed by authorities to be involved in his organization for some time.[8] Bresciano's remains are in a mausoleum at Notre Dame des Neiges Cemetery in Montreal, Quebec.[9]

Yeap. Cigarettes are big business, here. Out of real good morals, the government taxed tobacco like nothing else, probably in the history of the world... Seriously, a pack of 25 cigarettes cost $12 in here. So a huge bootleg market has developed.
And I think there has been a conflict between the Sicilian and the Calabrese mafia in Montreal for some time now.

Even though Jesse helped him, even getting that close to 715 lbs is very very impressive. I can max about 300 and the time and work it took to get there was tremendous for me. I can't even begin to imagine what it took him to get to that point. Hell, the fact that people can do over 1000lbs with the help of a shirt just blows my mind sometimes
