Sad News for SciFic Fans - Ian Banks has terminal cancer

RIP Ian. Lovely obit on the radio yesterday from his pal and fellow writer Ian Rankin. He sounded like a very nice guy.

He was. As I said, we shared an aunt in Fife. He was a wonderful drinking companion as well as a very gifted writer. Knocking them back late into the night while the trains rumbled over the Forth Bridge at North Queensferry while he spun great tales, some true, some half-true. Happy, happy days

There'll be a few good drams being sunk in heaven tonight. Sleep well.

RIP Ian. I just started reading The Algebraist, looks to be another great read.
