Carol had to. Lizzy was crazy, she made a pin cushion out of Mika and she was feeding walkers. She would have compromised the group. Great episode!

i found the last episode to be equally necessary and unnecessary. allow me to explain.

necessary
1) they are going to "terminus" and that could mean many things (atlanta, sanctuary with the hunters, etc) so the kids needed to go. we can speculate what terminus means but it can't be good. they will end the season on the fight for survival there, i.e. a cliffhanger...they will not end the season with everyone finding a real sanctuary.

2) lizzy was an annoying twat. there was no doubt in my mind that she was the one feeding the rats to the walkers through the fence. she never really got that they were dead and echoed other sentiments that the walkers could be saved, but she did it with an innocence and naivety of a child unlike hersel/otis and the governor that meant that she would never really understand the repercussions of death. plus, how she was screaming at carol when carol killed her friend represented that lizzy valued the dead or at least the non-verbal that she could fantasize about more than the living. that is the ignorance of innocence as she wasn't able to yet appreciate life.

3) she killed her sister and tried to kill judith so she was clearly mental.

this goes to the broader scope of the show. i absolutely HATE this half of the season where the major characters are splintered and only being shown for 1 show at a time...i am not enjoying the forced uncertainty created by both temporal and spatial separation of the main characters.


so taken together, because of how the story is being told, i agree that carol had to kill lizzy to advance her plot line and ensure that she, tyrese and most of all judith, are safe moving forward. carol has become the unfettered survivalist. but because i really don't care about the characters mika and lizzy, i really didn't need to waste an hour of my life on closing their story arc. they could have been just bitten and died in the first 30 seconds of the episode and then get back to other story lines that are more interesting.

a few other notes...
1) i hate this implementation of tyrese...he should not be such a buffoon.
2) rosita (Christian Serratos) is fucking cute
3) i really wish they didn't introduce eugene. his character annoys me as it points out how easy it is to prey on hope AND how a little bit of knowledge is more dangerous than ignorance.

One AWESOME season opener last night!

I got the season pass on google play.

I think I had to look away from the screen like 5 times, this season is much more gory than last season(s). My favorite part was towards the end, when the whole gang were reunited. I simply can't wait for next weeks episode!!!

I gotta figure Bob got bit...that had to be why he was crying. I figure he's going to infect everyone that eats him...I could be wrong, but it'd be great if I'm right.

...and I agree with the Carol posts. Didn't care much for her in the early season.
Now she just totally rocks!
