Millions, millions! It god damn sound like the lottery!
Hey! I never liked anything but girls in my natural life (as they say, but can there be any other?). I've been with t-escorts and I had a couple of t-girls friends (not girlfriends, but friends). I had in particular a tlady friend as a neighbour. What she wanted from me was so exactly what any of my gf wanted! kill spiders, plug stereo, move furniture, noise at night, carry disgusting garbage, pick something from toilet (even clean water), etc., etc., etc. I couldn't care fucking less about cocks, I in fact really dislike all of them but my own (who's a prince, believe me, ladies), I never felt like sucking a girl (altough I licked, as I was analingussing, because I always lick the orifice I'm going to fuck -it's justice) and I never ever thought of myself as being gay.
Now, I am one of these guys who regularly frequent the femboy thread. I have discovered that some of these guys can really be feminine and delicate, and can really have the qualities of someone I want to fuck (sorry for the straight words, but I'm drunk). Some of these guys, have I discovered on HA, I could probably fuck (hard). Now, would I really? I don't know. I don't really know how my body would react. Some of these models who works as women, if I met some in a bar, I'd definitely try to seduce, and I'd definitely try to get to a private place with. Could I fuck them? I DON'T KNOW. But I do like to watch the femboy thread. Am I gay? Well, usually, I'm being targetted as a guy who's somewhat hostile (which btw is totally false: out on HA and in my life, I always strongly defend gay rights)...
I think Rusty Eldorado and Seanchai have made the most enlightening comments, at the beggining of the thread. What does these numbers mean? Fuck! nothing at all.
But hey! you want to call me gay, or bi, I have no problem with it. And fuck you if you do...

Amy's right. The way Ec drew these stats up just doesn't work, though it's amusing. The CD/Siss/whatever stuff tends to coagulate together partly because if it shows up anywhere else it gets flamed. In other words, you could say that it has been successfully contained, but the consquence of that is that the stockade is pretty full. It's of a totally different character from the hundreds or maybe thousands of single-girl threads, the 'who is she?' threads etc.

The one thing that you can infer from looking at HA, though not from those stats, is that there appears to be a very small mumber of posters and an overwhelming number of lurkers. Those who post are content-providers for the entertainment of the rest, in other words. I think this was always the case but is much more marked now. That's probably just a consequence of scale.

On any given day, I probably look at half a dozen threads here. Some days a bit more, some days a bit less. That being the case I am pretty selective. I came in here because the thread was started by Ec. No other reason. I stayed, I read. What that demonstrates is that even if there were some statistical validity to the numbers, which as Amy rightly showed there is not, you would still not be able to extrapolate from that a behavioural profile of users, as some have suggested.

This site has over 100,000 subscribers and some of those threads are many years old, so the daily attention they are getting as a percentage of the potential number of clicks, were all the users online, is so tiny as to be meaningless.

What is more likely to be the case, given the overall profile of the site, is that a small number of members are very active in the high-scoring threads.

I think that is a very valid judgement MacShreach... and i think my earlier comments did not take account of the history of some the threads included.

The conclusions you appear to be drawing are flawed for the type of statistical analysis you're making. The most obvious issue is that you're examining total posts only while ignoring a number of other crucial factors. Here are some other points you'd have to account for.

    • Age of thread - If one thread is 8 years old and has 3 million posts while another is a month old and has a million posts... well that's not a valid comparison.
    • Performance throughout the thread's life - In the above example you might find that the three million post thread ALSO had a million posts in it's first month. You have to examine not just age but performance throughout it's life
    • What posters are represented by those threads - You might have one thread with four million posts coming from four posters while another thread has a hundred thousand posts by a hundred thousand posters. Factoring in who posted and how much each of them posted is kind of critical before you can infer anything.
    • The actual subject of the thread - For example, in your thailand streetwalker thread it appears that you assumed the thread was about streetwalking but couldn't it easily have been thai trans women? You might find that the title of the thread gives little indication as to the subject. Also, a thread about crossdressers might be consumed with off topic posts about peanutbutter and jelly sandwiches. You'll likely find that those threads actually have multiple topics all of which are unrelated to the OP.

Sorry, I know I'm taking it way too seriously but I could just see my statics professors throttling me if I didn't say anything. In short, the only thing you can infer from those threads is that hung angels has threads with a lot of posts... or possibly that I really like peanutbutter and jelly sandwiches.
Good points, Amy, but please note that I did not attempt any statistical analysis of these data, I only presented this intriguing subset of HA data concerning only those threads with over one million views. You are, of course, free to draw your own conclusions and make your own analysis. And each of your points is well-taken; there was (by me, the OP) no attempt to derive any meaningful conclusion from this superficial look at a small subset of very visible HA topics viz-a-viz the entire HA repository.

well, it's called Art, assuming you're serious and not just goofing around. The way it works is, artists imagine something in their minds, then they take a blank canvas or paper (or, these days, a series of ones and zeroes) and create something where there was nothing. It's a gift and it's magical and, tho you may not always like it, it's decidedly more interesting than paper bags
