Mexican; El Cholo in Pasadena, green corn Tamales,(in season) also they have great Nachos and Margaritas.

Los Tacos: Carnitas, Chile relleno and the best Salsa in LA. also in Pasadena. on Fair Oaks & California, best meal for under $10

Man you need to get outta Pasadena more often!

El Cholo is a step above Taco Bell...overpriced and not very good at all,but I will admit they do have great margeritas.

You want to eat some good mexican go down into east L.A. to El Loco,I believe its on Huntington Drive...you will prolly be the only gringo for miles but damn....good stuff...but no margeritas.

Or if youre feeling lucky, stay in Pasadena and hit the yellow taco truck...rnjoy some tacos de cabeza, lengua Y sesos...get the hot sauce( nowhere near as hot as it was 15 years ago)a handful of chilled radishes and a lime, pick up some cold Bohemias before you go there and enjoy.

Chances are your ass will be shooting flames for a few days but its so worth it.

As far as an ethnic American meal, I think chili would win the case. It's a very interesting subject, I think.
