Japanese Anime
The japanese are so open to transgenderism in their anime, you wonder why you don't see that here well i guess you could say that our anime is crap but even if we did make good anime they still wouldn't be as open as the japanese culture here are some characters i've notice that seem to be on that line,
Jakotsu hates women, and he kills them first. Before he kills the men, he plays around with them (if they're cute). He also has no problem killing children for the Shichinin-tai's own personal gain.
Jakotsu's most obvious trait is that he is a transvestite or just an effeminate cross-dresser, as he wears lipstick, hairpins, and pink/purple clothes. Another obvious trait is that he is a homosexual with an attraction to InuYasha and Miroku.
There is a little controversy over whether Haku is male or female, as Haku appears very feminine. The evidence, however, shows us that Haku is most assuredly a male. First off, in the manga profiles, he is listed as a male. Also, he claims to be a boy a couple times in the series, and in the Japanese version, refers to himself using the term "boku", which a term used only for males. Additionally, in a flashback from another character's past, a young Haku and Zabuza are shown walking from the village of the mist, and Haku is dressed as a boy and is referred to as male. And in episode 9, Kakashi says that Haku is a boy several times.
Now, some fans point out that the two instances when Haku admits to being a male in the series could be explained. First, when Haku told Naruto that he was a boy, he could have done so because he did not want anyone falling in love with him (or actually in that case, it would be "her", not "him"). Then Haku was called a boy by Zabuza, but this could have been because Zabuza was embarrassed that his partner was a female.
For more evidence of Haku's gender, lets take a look at the picture to the left that somebody pointed me to. There are no cleavage lines, though there do appear to be breasts outlined by the clothes. This is easily explained, however, as just the cloth drooping because Haku is leaning over.
The episode titled "White Past: Hidden Ambition" contains a flashback when we witness Haku showing his mother his advanced bloodline. In this scene, she smacks his hand and says "you wicked, wicked child", followed shortly by "I'm sorry my darling" (play clip). I mention this because I had someone tell me that when Haku's mother smacked his hand, she said "You are a bad Boy, Haku", and someone else told me that just afterwards, she says "I'm sorry my daughter". Listing to the audio clip, you can hear that both of those claims are incorrect for the American Dubbed version, and I've been told that they are incorrect for the Japanese version as well. So basically, there don't seem to be any clues lurking there.
I was also told that in the June 2006 Shonen Jump magazine, Masashi Kishimoto states that Haku is a boy:
Haku is a boy. I you think he looks like a girl, you're not alone, because Naruto thought so, too. But he's a boy.
However, I haven't been able to get any confirmation on this. In fact, I've had someone tell me that they read that issue and it contained no mention of Haku at all. If you have evidence of this alleged statement, please contact me.
If you want to read more about this controversy, head over to the post titled "Haku was a GIRL, not a boy". Just please keep in mind that the "evidence" presented is actually little more than speculation. The actual evidence points to Haku being a boy.
There has been major discussion on the naruto forums about deidara's sex.

Yeah, I've noticed too that the Japanese like androgynous characters and femme males. This article sheds a little light on that.

Btw, I'm only on episode 189 of the manga. Happen to know where I can find 190+? Narutochuushin.com had them, but lost them. :/
I was at the part where Sasuke was chasing after Itachi while he and his sidekick (whose name escapes me) were looking for Naruto.

Thanks for the link. You're so right about the dubs. The only dubs I actually like are Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo. I love the dude that voices Spike and Mugen.
I like One Piece manga, but I can't bring myself to watch the dub on Cartoon Network. :/
I gonna take a course in Japanese one of these days so I can play imports and read original manga myself without the middleman. I wonder how many years that'll take... D:
Ninja Edit: Deidara is the hotness. Without spoiling anything, is her introduction soon? Or is it he? With a face like that, who cares! >.>

One Piece is my favorite manga by far, as some might be able to tell from my handle and avatar. It also has a real funny and pretty cool transgender character, Mr. 2 Bon Kurei.

Mr. 2 Bon Clay, is the only Officer Agent in the Baroque Works megastructure without a female partner. This stems from the fact that he is an okama, and thus, serves as his own female. Because of this he receives two names: a male name with a number, and a female name with a holiday. "Bon Clay" or Bonkure is celebrated in Japan on either July 15 or August 15 because of the use of a lunar calendar. It is a Buddhist celebration found on the last day of the Bon festival, honouring the dead. Lanterns are lit, and the Bon-Odori is traditionally danced.
