As I pointed out, he is utterly wrong about there being an amendment concerning "flag desecration." There are groups of people, largely conservative, who from time to time try to turn it into a poltical issue to show that they're a "patriot" and a "real American," but their efforts have never advanced too far (...yet). The saner and more rational of us can differentiate between the physical symbol and the ideals that it represents. We know which of the two is more important, and that zealously protecting the one by elevating it to a holy status, actually destroys the other.

happens all the time, unless it's some low key event where nobody knows about it except a small circle of nobodies (like the KKK and their ilk)

the ripest season for flag burning, flag spitting on etc. usually reaches it apex during a riot, political upheaval or such moments of unrest eg. la riots

those are the times i never see anyone arrested directly for flag burning but rather the other activities of public nuance but flag burning is always something you can chuck onto them at the courts to make sure the other stuff sticks
