I understand that but it's hard to give fair comments back from my side - or look at who is doing the editing on each item to look and show originals. There isn't much I can do about the photographers, they make the girls look the best and if that's how they look in front of the camera on that day, then good for them. At least if I see samples, I can point out what we have/haven't done. I have over 44 sets a week come across my desk, I rarely look at everything.

I'll pull some raw photos and show the edited ones.

At the least it's been put through a filter to sharpen parts and smooth out the skin, which is why it's not got a lot of skin texture in her stomach area.

It's part of the fabric nowadays,
I dabble in photography and personally retouch my pics with only dodging and burning, but it's incredibly labor intensive.
There is no time for this in a professional company, so plug-ins are used.
Whether they are used to season, or detract, is up to the person using the program...

One of the keys here is pre-production vs. post-production. It's easy to say "we can fix it in Photoshop," but in fact consider if it takes just two minutes per photo to retouch, as for instance to remove basic blemishes (pimples and other small marks). If there are 130 photos in the set, that's 260 minutes in retouching (doing nothing but two minutes per photo--no bathroom breaks, phone calls, etc.). That's over four hours of work. On the other hand, if the model has good make-up before the shoot to correct these areas prior to shooting, that time is not lost, and the photos will not require the retouching. The best retouching is color correction: open the RAW or JPEG as RAW in Photoshop, set a preset for the color temperature and white balance of the set, save the preset, then open as many photos in RAW as you want and apply the preset to all. You can quickly review each photo to fine tune, open in Photoshop and run your steps to save (add watermark, etc.). If there are no or few reasons to actually retouch (alter the details of the photo such as blemishes, scars, etc.), then the process is very quick.

So my point is to avoid "we can fix it in Photoshop (post-production)" as much as possible with proper make-up and lighting before shooting.
