Default Istanbul - Where to go

There are various postings on the web (some on this forum) of where to go in Istanbul. However, I was nonetheless confused at my arrival and ended up wasting valuable vacation time. Here are some straightforward directions. I will post my 'reviews' of these spots afterwards.

Starting at Taksim square, begin walking down Istiklal Avenue. The first street on your right is called Taksim street. Do not be confused- you started at 'Taksim square' and you are now passing a small side street that also happens to be named 'Taksim'. So, unless you need to use the public restroom there (2 lira I think), pass this street and keep walking down Istiklal.

The second street on your right hand side is called Zambak. Take a right here (onto Zambak) and you will see Club 17 on your left hand side.

    *Back on Istiklal Avenue

-If you were to pass Zambak and keep walking, you will eventually see Atif Yilmaz street on your right, and Sadri Alisik on your left (Istiklal divides them).

    You have some options here.

    A. Turn right onto Atif Yilmaz and continue all the way through to Tarlabasi. Take a left turn here (away from Taksim square) and you will find working girls lined up and down the street all the way down to where Tarlabasi divides Kamer Hatun street (on your left) and Kalyoncu street that lies across. Incidentally, if you were to cross Tarlabasi here and walk down Kamer Hatun, there is a a small gay bar on the right where you can find a fair number of TS girls.
    B. Turn right onto Atif Yilmaz and the first street on your left will be Kucuk Bayram. Here you will find two brothels, situated right next to one another.
    C. Instead of turning right on Atif Yilmaz, turn left onto Sadri Alisik. Keep walking down until the road slopes down and to the right. Here, on your right hand side, you will find Sahra club.

    Club 17
-All the girls here expect to be paid for their time... There are a few Turkish guys outside who 'manage the girls' and will try to make you pay an outrageous price, but you might be able to work them down.

    Tarlabasi
From about 10pm to 2am, you'll find girls all over the place. Most of them are not very passable (nice body but masculine face or deep voice), but there are a few gems.

    Brothels on Kucuk Bayram
You can go here all day long it seems- 11 am to 11 pm (maybe earlier/later as well). The girls wave to you from the windows and will buzz you in if you're interested. When you get inside, you'll take your pick from about 5-12 girls standing in front of you. They do like to play games here...sometimes the cute girl who waves to you from the window is nowhere to be found when you go inside. Don't be afraid to walk away.
Also, prices fluctuate in the extreme, as does the quality of girls, and there is not necessarily a correlation. For example, a gorgeous blue eyed girl with dirty blonde hair will run 50 lira one day, while the next day a mediocre looking girl will demand no less than 300 lira.
Another thing, if you just stand outside in the street and ogle at the girls for too long, they will throw water at you.

    Sahra Club
Cover charge is around 50 lira, including one drink. Now, you may be able to work some magic but make no mistake, these girls want money. There are about 20 girls in the room- about a 50/50 split of passable/ nonpassable. On a good night, you can find 4-5 girls who are Vic Secret model caliber. They'll ask for $100, but this can usually be negotiated down to 100 lira.
