It's Wikipedia does anyone really need to ask.. as a University Professor once told me Wikipedia not have 'articles' it has stuff.

Besides anything that cites this: "Ogas, Ogi (2013-02-02). "What Do Shemale Porn and the Twilight Novels Have In Common?". Psychology Today. Retrieved 2013-11-26." is not good.

It is not really an article, more a paragraph with links. I do wish people would stop using the word Cisgender as nobody knows what it is meant to refer to.

Who doesn't know what cisgender means? The cis part is the Latin opposite of trans, it's a perfectly acceptable term to use, and should be used to describe non trans people

If you stopped most people on the street they would not have a clue what cisgendered means, and if you look at the Wikipedia link to the concept in the entry under discussion you find this jumble of contradictions without meaning:

    Cisgender
(often abbreviated to simply cis) is a label for those whose experiences of their own gender agree with the sex they were assigned at birth. It may also be defined as those who have "a gender identity or perform a gender role society considers appropriate for one's sex."[1] It is a complement to the term transgender.

Most people don't know...Most people don't give much thought to Latin....not to mention that most people don't concern themselves with this subject. As for the should be used part? Naw...If you NEED to define me,I'm Chuck Adams, that's the only definition I need.

I'm the most amazing person you'll never know, because society has convinced you I should be ignored or avoided. Want to know something? Ask... Just ask.

Yup , most people have no idea what it means because they have had little or no occasion to encounter it and even less need to use it in everyday writing or conversation.
However , like most 'technical jargon ' it gets bandied about in the context of scholarly writing or discussion , sometimes excessively. But here , in the context of trying to clearly define very specific gender identity roles , I think it's the most exact word for the job.
Certainly people who follow this forum should understand its exact meaning and expect to encounter it with some frequency.

I understand the points you are making, but the prefix Cis as an alternative to Trans begs too many questions, one of which is why people not only insist on choosing their own own terms with which to define themselves, but sometimes condemn those who refuse to agree with them. Cis is a case where the Urban Dictionary has it as both a derogatory term and as an appropriate term, so the one thing Cis does not do is settle the argument, for example when you wrote -But here , in the context of trying to clearly define very specific gender identity roles , I think it's the most exact word for the job. Exact is only exact for those who choose Cis as their preferred term, to those who do not, it is not exact at all. And is one of the reasons I did not engage with Ed_Jaxon's thread.
