When a working girl threatens to put you on blast

So I called this girl who had a post on CL or backpage and she's trying to extort money from me to get me to pay for her hotel room. And if I don't she's gonna put me on blast. Has this ever happened to anyone and is there any legal action I can take or prevent this from happening?

It's when they try to blast your number out all over the Internet and possibly with other personal information as well.

I gather you didn't use your real name or say where you live, job you do etc? Personally I would just block her number and move on. If that still leaves you nervous, then get a new number from your phone provider and buy another sim for when nature calls.

Just ignore her or call her bluff. Extortion/blackmail is a serious offence in any country. You could let her know that, if she tries it she'll end up in far more trouble than you.

Given that (as far as I'm aware) prostitution in the USA is illegal for both the escort and the punter, there's not much chance of finding a "legal" way to prevent her anyway.

In future, learn your lesson, never use a personal or work phone, instead buy a separate pay as you go phone or sim card for punting.

Hazards of the trade, I guess. I know this chick who will post your number, your texts, your address, your pics (if you sent some) and anything else if you screw her over. Screw her over typically means you wasted her time playing games, but could also mean you asked a stupid question. I don't want to be put on blast, but just like being arrested, the best way to avoid it is not to get involved in nefarious activities in the first place!
