Why might that be?

It's not uncommon. Many girls who have multiple profiles also have several phone numbers. You'll often get a response from a different number if they have run out of credit on one phone.
Happened to me recently, when one girl had to use her "personal phone" to reply to me.

Yup. I know a few girls who use a Google Voice number for work. Security reasons I assume...
