I am going to entertain myself by speculating about the possible reasons you will never be able to visit Vegas again, Stavros:

When he was playing roulette at the MGM some pretentious hillbilly tried to impress a dame with his knowledge of film and said Kubrick is a genius so he grabbed the man's Budweiser, smashed it over his head and with a sneer said "serves you right for drinking that cheap American piss." As five security guards were pulling him out of there he pinched a cocktail waitress' butt. That cocktail waitress is the sister of John "the horsefucker" Bandini, who runs dope and a protection racket for the big casinos in town. Mr. Bandini has ordered his men to shoot on site if that "limey sets foot within city limits." Meanwhile, Stavros has imposed the same restrictions for Bandini and his clan in London but said he'd "make an exception for his sister."

On a serious note I've gone to Las Vegas Lounge every trip to Vegas over the last ten plus years. It is sad that it's closed as it's one more club with ts women that is no longer running and there are so few. Same with Divas in San Francisco which I had only been to a couple of times but I thought was a fun place. Will still go to Vegas but I'll miss that club.

Just back from Vegas, can verify that it sucks now. I had held out some hope that even though the LVL is closed, there still might be some street activity in that area. No such luck, at least during the week, maybe on the weekends.

In general, Vegas is a shadow of its former self. There was an up-side though. I'm a bit of a gambler, certainly no high roller but I'll drop a c-note on roulette or blackjack now and then, and I suck at both but so what. Couple nights ago I was playing roulette in the Sahara casino and one of the senior floormen came up and just started conversing with me - mind you I was one of like 10 people in the whole casino and these were prime hours. By the end of the conversation, which was just the usual small talk between strangers, he ended up comping me a deluxe suite and a very expensive dinner. Normally I'd never get that treatment in Vegas so I assume they are really bending over backwards to impress people right now, or hell, maybe they're just bored. But I thoroughly enjoyed the suite and the dinner.

Not true at all, you just have to know where to look. All of the places I mentioned earlier in the thread are still rocking.

Was a frequent visitor to Las Vegas Lounge but it is now closed. Any alternative places open up? Will be visiting several times over the next few months and would love to find a replacement. Any advice welcome.

Oh they truly are bending over backwards. I am a local and I have never seen the type of crowd we are getting now. Reminds me of my time in Oakland. Which doesn't bother me a bit. You just gotta know how to deal with different crowds.

Your best bet in Vegas is the gay bars. Piranha, Freezone, and Quadz always have a bunch of gorgeous women. Just be aware they are usually there for shows/competitions or to drink with friends. Be prepared to be brushed off if they aren't in the mood. I've heard good things about Hamburger Mary's as well, although i haven't been there personally so I can't vouch for it.

Looks like a thirsty man can still get lots of nourishment in the city of sin.

Nothing like getting back on the plane after partying and still feeling the soreness in the back of your throat and the confidence knowing that some of your body is powered by semen.
