You can always ignore your family and if your friends are against it they were never really your friends.

My parents objected (both religious fanatics) so I ignored them. My other relatives know and are very supportive. I told all my close friends and the people I worked with and nobody gave a damn. There again I fairly open about my taste in women and I don't make a secret of it. Also I don't have a wife to hide it from so I don't have to save up for the divorce.

The first thought I had when I read the title of this thread was, be careful what you wish for, not only might you get it, but very aware of possible sexual changes and disappointment. Like yourself, marrying one was once my goal too for reasons of what I wanted forever sexually. I lived with a gorgeous transgender asian for several years.
