This has got to mostly be bad for the kid.

I imagine that growing up transgender has more than enough pitfalls on its own without trying to grow up with everyone watching.

We have numerous examples of what early fame/fortune does to young actors. A reality show is not what is needed by any teen.

What if she changes her mind (about her transgender status) and then feels that she can't because all the media attention will then go away, or that she will feel she can't change her mind because of the feeling that she will letting everybody in the trans community down?

Transgender or otherwise no one should grow up on TV. The teenage years are stressful/embarrassing enough growing up in front of your friends/family (let alone millions of viewers).

natina - She's not 11, she's 14. Why do you constantly post items that are years old as if they're current?


mildcigar - This will hardly be bad for her. Jazz is a well-known advocate for trans youth. She has done numerous interviews and spoken at trans events. She also has co-authored a children's book about being trans, based on her own life. She recently made a Time magazine list of 25 influential teens, so she's pretty well-adjusted to being in the public eye. If you have ever seen her interviewed, you know there's no way she would change her mind about transition. She's 100% girl, and has been living that way since she was 6.


Jazz also just landed a contract to be a spokesgirl for Clean & Clear beauty products.

Good for her! It may not be the best thing for her own life, but it will put a positive light on the transgender community.

I have not seen the show, but I have seen a few interviews with her. She seems like a decent young girl, and that's a pretty good impression to leave viewers with.
