I remember there were producers would put a "SHOT IN HD" logo on allot of DVD boxes even though they exported them in SD.

It would be great to get a backlog of content (or content with some A list porn stars).

I've been shooting with 4k RED cameras for several years, so typically champion 4k. But most sites honestly don't have good quality HD footage, so 4k is hardly the issue when it comes to this industry. There a more important things to image quality than resolution. Two big ones are dynamic range (the ratio of dark to brightness the camera can see) and lighting. So many scenes are unwatchable because the camera has poor dynamic range and director also either didn't light it very well or expose the camera properly. So the result is skin tones that are way overexposed where they look like ghosts. So if you are upgrading to 4k cameras, unless your budget can include some fairly decent ones, resolution will not be the deciding factor in the image quality.

Decent porn, hell, decent production across the board is all about LIGHTING LIGHTING LIGHTING.

A prosumer camera, manually set and white balanced with some decent glass and even a half assed knowledge of how to light a scene will garner all the results exceptional porn calls for. If you're an editor to boot and have skills in post, even better.
