Excellent appreciation by Stavros. I'd add only that to appreciate and enjoy his music all you really need to do is to listen properly. He was a fine songwriter as well as a musician. And among the jazz end of bass players the best - alongside the late lamented Jaco Pastorius.

Like Stavros I also saw Cream in 1967 - before they went to the US - and they were just marvellous with a unique approach that spawned many imitators, but none who could match the chemistry of these three musicians.

Never able to see Cream live but I certainly enjoyed the albums..... Got to see him somewhere along about '72-73 when he was with West, Bruce, & Lang.

    RIP JB

Like most casual American fans of Cream, I used to think Eric Clapton was the lead vocalist and driving force behind that band.

When I found out it was Jack Bruce and not Clapton who wrote and sang most of their music I became a huge fan of Bruce in particular.

It's a damn shame they didn't release more material. One of the few bands from that era whose sound IMO is still relevant and current.

A little bit more music died. RIP
