Has anyone else noticed the major drop off in hardcore scenes this year?
2014 has been the worst year for hardcore fans like myself. Grooby, Kink, Christian XXX, and Trans500 are the only companies consistently shooting hardcore content. Everyone else has either stopped shooting scenes because of issues in the company or shooting less hardcore scenes.
Devil's Films use to release a new DVD every month, and this year has been the total opposite. They have released way less content than they have in the past.
Every SMC site is shooting less hardcore content. T-Girl Pin ups is dead. Shemale Club doesn't have many new hardcore scenes anymore. Most of the solo sites from the T-Girl Network don't update often with hardcore content like they use to. Foxxy is the only girl who regularly shoots hardcore content.
Reality Junkies lost their director Kevin Moore to Evil Angel. The America Tranny series has officially ended.
Shemale Strokers=dead
Seriously, I never expected a lot of hardcore scenes from this. They did shot a few scenes every year until now.
A lot of solo sites are pretty much dead or can't afford to shot hardcore scenes. Joanna Jet's and Eva Cassini's solo sites are currently the only notable active solo sites outside of SMC.

i don't think that is what it is. while i am not sure if i would say 2014 was bad for hardcore at large, i would say that it is likely there are too many prodcuers trying to attract a niche audience and therefore competition for what is essentially a finite pool of money is forcing some to crumble.

Re: Has anyone else noticed the major drop off in hardcore scenes this year?
Correct.
There is a small pool of money (some would say shrinking) and the production of hardcore is expensive. A DVD at the LEAST would cost over $10,000 to produce. Fuck it ... I'll give my basic breakdown again.
Cost for shooting a hardcore DVD of 5 scenes:
Min. cost of content : $9500.
Editing/Graphics : $1000 ???
Let's just say $10,000 although I think that's low. If you're bringing in good locations, or costumes that's an increase, travel or hotel expenses, other associated costs?
Now you need to get it duplicated which can cost $2-3 per item (for this demonatration $2.50). So for the first 2000 produced you have a cost per item of : $14,000.
Do you want to spend advertising or marketing?
Distributors usually take 30% of the sale and get the DVD's to the stores (larger companies self-distribute). Many of the bigger outlets only pay $5-6 per item (some try to do it for less) so the producers cut on that would be 70% $3.50-$4. Some people would pay higher for smaller quantities but it's unlikely that unless you're Evil Angel that you're getting over $10 per item. So you're 2000 DVD's (it would be hard to sell 2000 in a year of one title without advertising or big branding) might bring you back $10k.
Companies the look at VOD to try and make some return.
It's very difficult. Someone like Christian or some other solo producers are doing it right. Keeping the costs down, doing trades with other models etc to be able to produce a scene at low cost, and then promoting it directly onto the VOD market and spending his time socially networking to sell it.
For a company like Devil's - the number of sales above is probably lower, they have a big reach but you can see the amount of DVD's that need to be sold to even break even.
There is a very limited amount of money in this niche and some of us are competing for a slice of it, while other clubs seem to have just given up and milking the cow.

Tiffany Starr is an exception to this assessment; she has been consistently shooting new content, soft and hard, all year. I have shot 7 hardcore scenes with Tiffany this year, including the TEA nominated 3-way scene with Tiffany, Ada Black, and Antonio, and she has shot others besides, including at least two for her site.
In general, I concur with Steven's overall assessment. The costs are simply out of reach for a very small company like the UP Network, and as indicated even the big players have cut back. But there is original h/c content being produced.

Hi TSPornFan,
For me personally, I just can't get the performers. Established male talent has been letting me down on or off set and new talent can't be arsed to get themselves regular STD test certificates.
Female and TS talent seems more intent on tweeting selfies and begging for stuff off their wish-list than actually producing hardcore.
I now have an amazing private location in the Caribbean and even though I offer paid flights and a vacation in an independent bungalow in return for shared hardcore content, I have had no takers.
It therefore looks like I may have to fly my photographer and myself to the models in the US which seriously restricts budget and therefore reduces the number of hardcore shoots that one can successfully produce.
Kisses,
Joanna

Re: Has anyone else noticed the major drop off in hardcore scenes this year?
fuck if frankie's thread doesn't actually result in something positive. if thisis the start of a new JJ/Grooby collaboration, i promise not to poke fun at frankieboi for at least 47 hrs....a full 2 days would be just too much.
may i ask though...is a run of 2000 dvds a real estimate or only used for the example. if that is a realistic pressing...then perhaps the market is smaller than i thought.

Re: Has anyone else noticed the major drop off in hardcore scenes this year?
That's actually just for my purposes of numbers. The runs are smaller than that usually. Even Joey Silvera runs maybe take over a year to do 1000 copies, that's why you see producers like the EA producers, turning out 1-2 titles a month. You need to have an ongoing catalog to make a profit and this is why Devils, Evil etc run series as a store will order TS Babysitters 25 say, and if it's successful try earlier ones.
