Are there going to be reenactments of the battles of Cockpit Point and Ball's Bluff?

A lot of people in India and Pakistan will have seen hijrahs(transgendered and intersexed people),come out to give their blessings, when a boy is born in a household, or ,at weddings, where they sing and dance .People usually give them money ,for good luck and to avoid creating trouble ,sending them on their way. It's a tradition that has probably gone on for many centuries

i think most mtf transsexuals in India would prefer to be legally considered females ,than live in the no-man's land of a third sex, which has been Indian society's traditional view of them.

Let's get this clear, this judgement by the Indian supreme court is not as progressive or radical, at it first might seem.

Have you ever seen an Indian bathroom? Don't go there.
Seriously though, we touched upon some of these issues in the "Trans in Mongolia " thread in the Politics And Religion forum. Bad situation for them there and although they are 'accepted' in Thailand , their legal status is hazy ,at best.
Of course , Thailand has denied official citizenship to the 'Hill Tribe' people in the North for the last 75 years or so. It is just recently that a movement is afoot to correct that horrible situation.
So , any enhancement to the legal status of transgender people in India , imho , is a good thing.
