Re: Going to Thailand -- Need Advice
I can't offer you pointers to help you with your sex vacation but I will suggest you DO NOT go to Bangkok wide-eyed and naive about Thai people, culture, or their motivations. Keep you eyes and ears open at all times. Be extremely wary of tuk tuk and taxi drivers. English is surprisingly scarce but that may vary based on where in Bangkok you stay. I'd heard about the famous Thai hospitality and friendliness, etc but I personally didn't experience that in Bangkok. I saw a lot of angry, stressed people who generally seemed to dislike tourists but apparently it's different outside Bangkok. I stayed at The Berkeley located in Pratunam (about USD 60/night) - it's busy, lots of shopping, and close to trains, and the water taxis and the hotel is beautiful. Also stayed at the Novotel (about USD 100/night) in Ploenchit which is more upscale but surrounded by embassies and high-end malls and office buildings BUT really close to Soi Cowboy which is supposed popular for what you're looking for.
Have fun and stay safe!

Re: Going to Thailand -- Need Advice
I second the suggestion to visit these forums for a lot of good advice from people who visit Thailand frequently:
http://www.ladyboyspattaya.com/
http://www.bangkokladyboys.net/forum/
Both are run by the same people.

Re: Going to Thailand -- Need Advice
1. I first visited Thailand in the very late 1990s, and about all the information that was on the web at the time was on the Ladyboy-Ladyboy site and forum. My belated thanks for that info.
2. Presently there is at least 100 times more info on the internet. I would second the recommendation for the http://www.ladyboyspattaya.com/ forum.
3. Depending if you are going to Thailand primarily for "touring the country" or for the "Ladyboys", I consider cutting down the number of cities I was planning to visit to only a couple. If you are touring for cultural reasons then I'd add a 2-3 day side trip to Ankor Wat in Cambodia (can not stress enough how well worth the time and effort this side trip is). I know you may think this is a once in a lifetime trip, but most of us regular visitors to the LOS got hooked after only one visit (a little like doing crack I suppose).
4. If you are primarily going for the Ladyboys, then I'd just visit Pattaya and then book some side trips to some of the cultural sites during the days (such as sites in Bangkok or the River Kwai Bridge/Railway).
5. Brush up on the political situation in Thailand (at present a good amount of political instability) and I would even consider skipping Bangkok for this reason (other than for flying into the airport). I don't think the Thais would intentionally go looking to hurt foreigners, but large volatile crowds always make me leery.
6. Have Fun.

Re: Going to Thailand -- Need Advice
I was literally there few days ago.
If you want to see ladyboys and don't mind paying, your best bet is actually Pattaya, not Bangkok.
Make sure you add Pattaya on your trip.
I was in Pattaya, sitting in one of the bar/coffee shop and was approached by a cute professional rent boy who offered his service for free. I was honored but I politely declined, since I was there NOT looking for sex, just simply chilling and relaxing.
enjoy and let us know
Tia
p.s: Thai people truly are nice, but since you are seen as a tourist and prone to dealing with escorts, I agree with the advice of others: watch your wallet and passport.
I don't have any problem since they see me as part local (my father is Thai)

for serious advice on the barscene etc go to ladyboyforum.com
and just remember as a tourist you're just a walking wallet.
in my opinion english works pretty good, you just have to make a little effort yourself.
