    Default Is "Passable" Offensive?

Of course, as well is irrelevant. Passable is just more pleasing to say than attractive. Most groups are ruined by associated terms.

I disagree with Janet Mock sooooo much.

Why the need to be a woman? Why not be trans?

Trans shouldn't be a subcategory of female or male.

Sure, for some people, being a subcategory works. They fit nicely into a pre-defined binary. They "pass" and are content slipping into the normal standard of male or female. They aren't objectionable to society...and life moves on.

But the VAST MAJORITY of trans people aren't that way. Either because they don't easily slip into their desired gender (mainly because of how they look) or they don't truly identify in those limited ways (which, of course, a lot of trans will wish they do... because being normal is to avoid conflict...and being allowed to live comfortably...who wouldn't want that?).

Once trans stops being a dirty word, then you will see trans people more and more dropping the desire to be accepted as a less discriminated group (women). They will start realizing they don't have to say they are women ...and can refuse to exchange one set of gender rules for another.
