I do not know many tg woman. But of the few woman I know exactly 50% have HIV. Of course the other 50% might not have been forthcoming, for various reasons, to announce to me their HIV status, so the ratio might be higher. Almost all told me they acquired HIV by being raped. When I wrote about the physical dangers of anal sex, I was mocked and called retarded by some of the prominent members of this site. This danger is why I would never have sex, protected or otherwise, with a TG.

What I think Kelly means by the results is that some could dismiss the results as being a disease of people of color which would be a horrible mistake. A mistake similar to those at the beginning who categorized the epidemic as a gay disease.

I am black and I consider the stats as a wake up call.

This is really tragic, HIV is entirely preventable so to see that people are so nonchalant about taking the precautions is shocking. But I guess if you're in a bad mind set and don't have regard for your life, maybe using a condom is the least of your worries. I don't know, I can't begin to get into that state of mind.

Yeh, And how bad are his orgins for the drug taking this long? currently there is so many articles about people with HIV not dying of HIV, they are dying of Liver failure, Liver Toxicities. The body can only handle so many drugs without cleanse. Also, ive read articles of Gay men from the 80's that have been living with HIV, but have died from anal cancers from the side effects of the drugs, etc, etc.

Actually, it wouldn't shock me if there actually was much less fear about dying from aids given the drug regimens that are available now, which can drive viral loads down so low that HIV+ people who adhere to them won't even test positive.

I do not think i would go off of that thinking, as stated above, yes the drugs will help to keep you healthy, but how long? really, no one knows.

This is true, if you did test positive, if you were never tested, that does not help.

I think all in all Kelly is right, test yourself, protect yourself. Be responsible, lets not even talk about the new cases of HIV that are mutating, or drug resistant.
I grew up in the 80's and remember people in school here one day gone the next.
