Christmas music
There are only six more days until Christmas. I'm pretty sure that there's an older thread of a similar nature, but I couldn't find it, so I'm starting a new one. Traditional, pop, classical, rock, religious or non...post 'em if you like 'em. Here are a few from the Phil Spector Christmas album.

Actually, this should be about it's XMAS! What fucking song would you like to bin for Xmas?
Well here it is Merry Xmas?
When the snowman brings the snow?
Merry Xmas, darling, wherever you are?

It's the people in retail I feel sorriest for. Squeezed into garish Christmas jumpers, crammed into Santa hats or those fucking antlers and after that they have to endure those utterly awful Christmas songs on a 24 hour loop.
Christmas is hell.
But pleasures are like poppies spread
You seize the flow'r, the bloom is shed

Greg Lake. The song's sentiments pretty well match mine and the song is, well, so gloriously over the top, especially the mad outro.

Ben, that Bowie/Crosby song definitely takes the prize for strangest duet ever. It's a cult classic that has spawned a couple of homages.

Re: Christmas music
What about us shoppers? The Tesco in town is a nightmare -every year that damn song by Slade, the whining emptiness of talentless John Lennon, the bland bawling of Bing, and the others, no wonder their alcohol section is crammed with desperate looking people. It's a deliberate sales tactic.
Luckily, because it is so rarely played, this version of Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas exposes the lack of talent in most of Judy Garland's contemporaries and successors -the hint of despair, fatigue, the intonation and breath control and expressiveness is almost disturbing in its authenticity -you wont find any such talent in smooth-as-chocolate-sauce Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra or Ella Fitzgerald.
Enjoy!
