I never really took to the term 'shemale' and always thought of it as a sort of derogatory term. Somewhat like calling a dyke a 'tuna tomboy' or a gay guy a 'ham slammer'.

Ladyboy is pretty much a cultural term (And doesn't sound as goofy as 'shemale') and T-girl doesn't seem to exude the disrespect (Or, as the case may be, commercial/entertainment aspect) that 'shemale' does.

'Shemale' is akin to something Phineas Taylor Barnum might have come up with, like 'monkeyboy'.
