On the one hand yes, the qualifying game is more important; on the other hand there is, or seems to be a crisis in the goalkeeping department for England so this game could help clarify the situation...or not...

The Chilean flag has been in use 21 years longer than the Texas flag.

Looks like I'll be channel-hopping as I've got both and they're on at basically the same time. 3 hrs 45 till Portugal kicks off against Sweden in the Stadium of Light. England in 4 hrs.

Yes, but Texans have bigger dicks.

No offense intended, I couldn't run half way across the field without needing oxygen but:
As an american raised on the NFL and MLB, I don't get soccer. During the last world cup, someone told me that there was going to be a match between two soccer powerhouse countries, Brazil vs England or something like that. He said it would be one of the best matches ever. I like sports so that nite I tuned in. Now, not taking anything away from the players, they ARE definitely athletes, but to me it boiled down to kick the ball and run. Now I sure there is strategy and plays and all, but all I took away from it was bring the ball up the side of the field, have your guys bunch up in front of the net, kick the ball to the bunch and hope one of your guys head butts into the net.
To me it's 87 minutes of running and kicking with 3 minutes of real action.
And they say baseball is boring, not as boring as soccer.
This is only my opinion and I don't mean to offend anyone.

I've played soccer my whole life so I am a bit biased but I understand your POV.

I think you've really got to understand and appreciate the artistry of the game, as well as the strategy. The game really is beautiful when it is played well... but then again, it can be a snore-fest when it is not. I think it is easiest to appreciate soccer when:

    A. kids trying to dribble and kicking anything that moves
    B. professional on a world-wide stage

High school, college, even most (US) MLS soccer is not all that entertaining to watch because most players don't have the skill sets developed to make the game beautiful.

When the skills are there though and you've got a talented team, there are few other sports that are just as artistic and stylish as soccer is, imo.

I think therein lies the rub.
You were raised on soccer while I was raised playing baseball and touch football all my life. I guess I understand the nuances of these games better than someone who didn't grow up following it

1st. Touch football is for sissies.
    2nd. Just kidding.

Yeah... I suppose it is like that with everything in life... you appreciate the things that you've some experience with. To me, baseball is just an excuse for guys to memorize a bunch of stats and pretend they actually understand them... Although, I still do like the game just because it brings up good memories of going to Giants games in SF way back when with the family.

You've got to give soccer a chance though. I'm lucky up here in PDX (go Thorns!) since we have a freakin' awesome team (Rachel Buehler, Tobin, Alex Morgan, Christine Sinclair, etc. etc.) to watch. But, go watch a game or two locally and it will start to grow on you IF you have good players competing.
