No it was the last time the World Cup tournament was held in Brazil, in the days when the capacity of the Maracana was 199,854. After beating Chile 2-0 England suffered the humiliation of being beaten by the USA 1-0 and then beaten by Spain. Uruguay won the Jules Rimet cup but it was the first World Cup after the War and some teams, like 'Germany' were banned from participating. Details in the wikipedia link.
