In my opinion Juliette Stray shouldn't be a shoe-in. Juliette Stary is a natural red-head, but she hasn't been a red-head in over a year. She changed her look to a bimbo blonde. It would be odd to see a blonde win best red-head award when her hair has been changed for over a year.

Secondly, is it possible to make a rule about how active a girl is for an award? I know the Best Red Head isn't an award just yet. However, Juliette only has one new scene this year. Is that deserving one an award for the "best star in any category"?

Alternative has the same problem, it's hard to define. I don't think the same girls has won two years in row ever in our awards.

It's hard, but not impossible. Tattoos, edgy haircuts and personalities, and solo sites not on mainstream networks are all indicators that a girl may be 'alternative.' To me, alternative is anything that is not glamour-porn. Think Belladonna, as opposed to Jenna Jameson. There may be a glamour aspect, but to these girls, the art is more important.

And while it may true that nobody has ever won an award twice in a row, removing them from consideration entirely still leaves room for more nominees.

It's based on what they done over the 12 months. They can't be eliminated just because they've won before, that would be more unfair.

I'm talking about categories. They would still be eligible for awards other than those they won the previous year, so I disagree... but then that's par for the course, isn't it?

Well, none of the major awards have that rule and they don't seem to be any worse for it.

I'm going to have to agree with seanchai. I'd rather have the best performer/scene/director win rather than have the second best win. It kinda smacks me of punishing excellence which is endemic nowadays.

Girls complain about the annual AVN nominations and wins of the same girls year in and year out because it excludes newer models who haven't been granted the same level of exposure, so I really think you're wrong about that. Let's not pretend this industry doesn't have gatekeepers.

The current system smacks of nepotism, which is endemic nowadays.
