I have been looking at homes in Budapest .. amazing what you can rent for not much money compared to the UK and as we all know .. Budapest is the Porn Capital of Europe/UK these days tempting indeed

6bed house with swimming pool, fully furnished for £1000 per month and freely able to produce porn, market etc .. and jusy bypass the UK completely ... choices choices stay in UK or not :...

Thanks Bronco. Jobbik is the name... and even the present rulers are making life very uncomfortable for minority groups - jews, Gypsies, Gay people etc.... Jobbik are allowed to parade around in military uniforms with logos like the Swastika and they have been implicated in many murders.

I was in Budapest in spring 2007. The thing that really struck me - aside from the architecture, the food, and the amazing subway - was the number of orientals I saw. And I don't mean tourists but people just going about their business and who obviously lived there. I had expected a fairly homogeneous population. I was surprised because Hungary was known even then as a neo-nazi haven. The funnily ironic thing about Hungary is that they owe their state to the Mongols and ranks high as a nation of MonGrels......how they could ever align themselves with racist ideology is almost as puzzling as the rise of neo-nazism in Mongolia!

Nahh seriously budapest is a porn central place .. but so is some of spain .. france and italy ..

Thing with Hungary is yes it is abit iffy with some groups .. but then it comes to discretion i guess , if i lived in budapest i wouldnt be out as a TS ... and i wouldnt be escorting etc. i would just be doing shooting for companies , mostly females etc . and come back to UK to escort for a week each month

Horthy became the Regent in Hungary in 1920 after the overthrow of the Communist government of Bela Kun -which from 1919 was so assailed by military forces from Romania, Czechoslovakia and Yugoslavia it failed to establish itself as a stable government and was itself responsible for many crimes against humanity. Horthy lasted until 1944 having bargained an alliance with Germany in return for the restoration of land taken away by the Treaty of Trianon; he was never comfortable with the Nazi's, and when he decided to surrender in 1944 and abandon the German-Italian axis the Nazi's arrested him, and subsequently he gave evidence against the Nazi's at the Nuremberg trials.

The Jewish communities of Hungary were amongst the worst treated in this bleak period -for that matter they weren't exactly welcome in the Communist era even though prominent members of the party were (lapsed) Jews -many were strung up or shot on sight during the 1956 uprising; and Horthy cannot escape responsibility for the laws of the 1930s and the excesses that followed, even if some of the worst atrocities took place in the latter stages of the war after his arrest. Anti-Jewish feeling has never really gone away in Europe, even if it is no longer respectable as it once was, and the fact that it is and always has been an offence against humanity to people like me.

Central Europe has many unresolved issues of ethnic tension, some of which have a tendency to violent expression, but the property is cheap and in any case, the UK's record on human rights is not much better even if individuals can claim to have opposed the crimes committed in our name.


The films of Miklos Jancso- The Red and the White, The Round-Up, Red Psalm and Allegro Barbaro are incisive -sometimes brutal treatments of the period before and after the Revolution, but rarely touch on the Jewish element of Hungarian life even though Jansco is himself Jewish and has been involved in a film project about the Jews of Hungary whichcan be seen as extras on the DVD's of his films.

I am not passing judgment on whether one should live there or not, nor do I know how safe it would be to move there. But I had no idea the situation for the Roma is as bad as it is. So thank you for that Prospero.
