You're kidding me, right? (I am assuming you are Caucasian.) If you were in a line, surrounded by Asians, with an Asian cashier and the five people in front of you were not asked for their ID's to make $20, $30, $50 dollar purchases, and then YOU are asked for an ID to make a $3 purchase...

You're telling me that you would calmly just say, "OK... I left it in the car, let me go get it." DOES ANYBODY WHO HAS READ THIS THREAD ACTUALLY BELIEVE THAT? Just given your response to my posts, I call BS on that.

As to the rest:
It is called "providing context". I described my appearance as it was because to not do so would be intellectually dishonest and provides context to the situation. I could have just as easily omitted it and let the story really make it sound like this person made a decision based solely on race (or as you put it, "exaggerate"). I put that in there because it is how it happened... which is the intellectually honest thing to do. Learn it. It is YOU who took the descriptions to the worst possible degree. Most people have been on a day hike before and probably understood what I meant by dirty, etc.

HONESTLY, if the cashier had said with a smile, "Oh, well, you look pretty dirty and I just want to be sure this is your card," I probably would have said, "Yeah, I just came off of hiking... sorry. OK, let me run out and get it". (BTW - Parking at this attraction, if anybody has been there is a way off - not just a matter of walking out the door to your car). "STORE POLICY" was her firm, unwavering reply. THAT is the problem I had and one which in all your brilliance, and apparent eagerness to defend this person, you have yet to explain.
