So what happened?

We(I) ended it because I was under death threats from her old friends. I was living in mexico at the height of the Drug Violence. and her old good friends, got into the business of drug trafficking or got associated with it and essentially turned into "bad old friends".

The breakup had nothing to do with her being transgendered , or me being with her. It was a tense situation. It was only the last year that got really bad.

I loved her, and kinda still do. But she chose to have those friends in her life, and I called her out on what her friends were doing and she denied them. Then they stole most of our stuff, shot up our house and threatened me. And I told her I didn't want them near or in our house. Really ended bad. We still talk to this day, but just as friends.
