Re: Wimbledon 2013
I've been waiting all my life for this day.
Well done.
Now you're British, Andy.

Re: Wimbledon 2013
It was a terrific match, and Murray played a great tactical game by taking the game to Djokovic pretty well all through. Not as good as the Djokovic vs del Potro semifinal from the purist's perspective, and Novak didn't play consistently as well as he can, but we were definitely watching the two best players on the planet right now, who clearly share the philosophy that on a tennis court every ball is worth chasing.
But the occasion made it unforgettable, probably the sporting moment of the year. In that grinding, anxious final game, the whole country was playing every stroke. And Murray coped with the ludicrous weight of expectation better than any of his predecessors.
Proud day to be a British tennis fan, but to be a fellow Scot feels really special.

I just cannot imagine how they played such fine tennis for so long in that heat. And Djokovic was hugely gracious in defeat. What a magnificent afternoon now we need a woman champ.

Re: Wimbledon 2013
Murray has donated both his Wimbledon prize money and his Queen's Club winnings to charity.
That's $US 3,000,000. And they say Scots are mean.

Re: Wimbledon 2013
I've never considered Murray to be in the category of a Federer or Tiger as far a money earners are concerned... maybe he is . But regardless, it's a hugely generous gesture. In the US media they're reporting he'll never have to pay for a pint at any pub in the British Empire for the rest of his life ( too bad for Murray it shrank so much in the last 150 years)
