I recently had something called "hobbyofkings.info/clicker.php" affect my MAC:

It stopped me from viewing my own website.

At first I thought it was Facebook blocking my website from being viewed.

It only affected Firefox. Temporary Cured by resetting Firefox but just came back later.

Safari, Chrome, Opera, etc were all ok.

My webmasters say it could be something their end and are looking into it.

Wonder if anyone else has had the same prob?

Mac's long-cherished myth of invulnerability to viruses came to an end years ago when Apple changed to Intel chips. This meant they had to totally redesign their OS. The base architecture they used was Unix, which is the base architecture for guess what--Windows. (Out of OSll via Windows NT.) Mac OSX can even be made to run on a Windows box with no changes (though why anyone would want to....) Apple were forced to do this not because their old OS was inferior but because they were out-paced by Intel on the hardware side.

This change also meant the end of the advantages which Apple had hitherto claimed in areas such as image handling, though they kept very quiet about that.

Mac OS today is uncannily similar to Linux, which is also based on Unix. (Android is another form of Linux, one of many.) That means that all of the Operating Systems in use in modern pcs have the same core architecture, and there are many programs which are cross-platform.

To think that people are not, right now, developing viruses, malware and spyware that will work on all three would be somewhat short-sighted.

Trojans and malware yes but there have been no cases of a virus on OS X caught in the wild and there really is a difference. Like it was said OS X is based on Unix/NEXTSTEP and they have never had a virus. OS X also does not run on Windows boxes, which would imply that you click on an icon on the desktop and up pops the OS X Dock.

An x86 or AMD processer doesn't make a computer a Windows box, it is just that both operating systems and many more can be ran on the underlying hardware, thus the hackintosh.

    Malware yes, viruses no.

Google is easy, Wikipedia is easy, no need to write crap like that, really. I don't even know where to start. I'll just put the wikipedia links and leave you to do your homework and read.

Yeah I never heard that unix was the underlying architecture of windows. I thought of doing a hackintosh. But I'm hesitant to do anything with apple. I want to switch over to Ubuntu eventually. I'm really tired of virus scanning and I've been reliant on open source software for a while now. Plus it's free!

Does anyone know if a virus/malware is written for the Mac mobile operating system, iOS, will it also affect the regular Mac OS?
