Thanks P. And one for you. Richard Shindell singing his great civil war song Reunion Hill. All the more powerful for its simplicity. I must have played and sung this song more than a hundred times. It's haunting and moving.

This is just so pretty - The Band. Best combo that ever drew breath.

I picked up this Neil Young CD a little while back. Recorded straight from the desk in 1970. This song was always one of my favourites. The CD is "Live at the Cellar Door" and if you like Neil acoustic as I do, it's strongly recommended.

Joni's wonderful evocation of the thinly hidden primitive.

Classic John Martyn live from the 70s. This was in my live set for years, though it's impossible to catch both the guitar and vocal fluidity of the great man.

Thank you. This one, imo, is even better. My old pal Steve Knightley of Show of Hands introduced me to the song a few years back, and although I very rarely play covers these days, I've made an exception for this one, it's one of those songs where you get a pause before the applause.

Although it's clearly about the Yugoslavian war, Steve and I both feel that it also has strong resonances with Cormac McCarthy's The Road.

.” I Am Calling You” from the soundtrack of a movie called “Baghdad Café.” I saw this film many years ago and remember nothing about it except this haunting song by Javetta Steele.
