Yeah, don't go if you don't have to. It's bloody stinking humid hot, the Arabs basically hate everyone who isn't an Arab and they treat women (and presumably TS gals) like dogs, except dogs get treated better.

i think it depends why you're going. if it's vacation i hope you have an itinerary because there isn't much out there unless you like watching really rich people watch their horses race or gold souks.

if you're lucky, you'll ran into some interesting people (i ran into some pretty sweet russian chicks when i was there) since there is a pretty big expat community there

If you do go you will put yourself at great risk if you seek out the TS escorts brave enough to work there. They cannot advertise locally as they'll get arrested and they work in constant risk of getting arrested. And if held they suffer. One girl who posts here was raped in a men's prison.

Plus Dubai is an unnattractive place - a fantasia of architecture conjoured at the behest of one remarkable man's imagination. That does make it interesting but essentially sterile.

Sharjah, next door is to be avoided. Extremely religiously conservative. Abu Dhabi has no real charm. The best places are the further flung bits of the UAE - Ras al Khaihmah and Fujirah (if you like wild mountainous desert places)

I agree; Thailand, RP, wherever, just not the UAE. OK so the OP may have no choice, going for work, whatever. In the 70s and 80s I travelled a lot in the Arab/Muslim world (was in Iran on the eve of the Revolution, that was scary times) but since the wave of religious and political extremism that began then has spread and intensified, I now avoid these places like the plague. In most, nothing that a Westerner might call fun is approved of and much of it flat illegal, with penalties that are at best utterly ludicrous. If I had to go for work, I'd go, do the job,live like a monk, and come home.

There are a lot of very positive qualities about the people in these countries, but the theocracies they live under are unpleasant at best.
