Even funnier, Schwarzenegger actually did a movie called "The Last Action Hero" as a nod to the fact that he had become the exemplar of what was considered an action hero. It's like asking about the best George Lucas movie and not including Star Wars.

It is simple, I was writing down the list and his name never entered my head, perhaps because he has been away from films for so long. In any case, I don't see how anyone could rate Schwarzenegger above Popeye, the sailor man's charisma and his cute girlfriend alone win that contest.

Another omission: Matt Damon in his Jason Bourne persona. Great films to watch, especially the second and third, directed by Paul Greengrass.

I would have included at least Daniel Craig and Connery from Bond and Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones - some of the most rollicking action adventures of the lot.

With the exception of the two Bruces and, of course, Popeye, the rest are just mouth-breathing meatheads.

If it was a list of action hero Characters your idea might have traction, but Matt Damon is more versatile so you fail on this test. Same with Bond, Indiana Jones, and Ethan Hunt of course -I think had I included Tom Cruise as an action hero there would have been even more protests.
