I would guess that not only is it just a personal preference but it also helps some clothes fit better. As much as some of us like small asses or boobs some designers make their clothing to fit curvier girls. It seems to me that the sexier clothes hang better when there is a bit to grab onto. I hear skinny girls complain all the time how hard it is to find something that fits right while bigger girls just need to weed through the companies that use vanity sizing on their clothes.
