by the time this movie had come out, i was already a bit obsessed. my first 'exposure,' if you will, was crocodile dundee (1986)


(quality sucks)

but moreso, the crying game (1992). both of these movies left me asking how someone could be so pretty and feminine but be a crossdresser. i knew what drag queens (highly stylized and over the top) were especially since rupaul debuted with his song in 1992 as well and i felt there was a bit of a separation between the character of 'dil' and the persona of rupaul.

ace ventura, (also 1994) like Naked Gun 33 1/3 just went for comic shock value.

favorite? that is the only one to my knowledge. what other mainstream movie roles have had transwomen actresses. i really don't count "ticked of trannies with knives."

also, though i am happy for Yasmin to have had a chance in a mainstream movie, in retrospect, it was not the best light to show a transwoman. she was featured as a whore in thailand who topped a drunk guy and in general the role was used for shock value. is that really flattering at all?

I suppose if you are going to get all PC you are right. That said, I thought she was believable as an actress playing a role. Which she has always done quite convincingly in some of the Devil's vignettes

I remember seeing Vaniity in some forgettable Cinemax movie that was so bad I can't remember the title and didn't see it listed in IMDB
