    We both lived our whole lives here. She lived here for 20 years, and Ive lived here for 19 years and 11 months

    From what I understand you've less discrimination there than most places around the globe - she might be able to get into a school with long hair in the US but possibly harder to get a job later.

    Juliana Dominquez, who recently started posting here, is a nurse in the Philippines. She may have some advice for you. I agree with seanchai that it's better to bend than to break (or to cut your hair than deny yourself the chance to attend the school of your choice), but I also agree that that choice sucks.

    The Philippines have a very high percentage of transsexuals--perhaps second to Thailand as a percentage of the population--yet it's hardly a free or liberal country in that regard. From what girls from the Philippines have said, and what I've read, TS in PI are basically considered gay men and are often ostracized and socially unaccepted, which comes of 350 years of Spanish colonization and its being a predominantly Catholic country.
