When I upgraded last year, I gave my old computer to a friend who scrubbed it and gave it to his 11-year-old neighbor — it was the kid's first computer.

Save your hard drive, get an enclosure, format the hard drive after you move everything you want off of it and use it as a backup drive. Too many good drives gonig to waste these days. There are a lot of good parts, but not being tech savy you waste more money then you should.
