Default Is Internet porn making male sexuality more plastic?

    http://yourbrainonporn.com/can-you-trust-your-johnson

I thought this article was interesting, but I don't agree with all of conclusions offered on this site (I've found porn has affected my sex-life, but not my other relationships). I watched heterosexual porn for approximately 7 years almost daily and my preference was lesbian porn. I was never very interested in boy/girl porn (usually found it boring), and had no interest in boy/girl anal sex, guys cumming in girls faces, cream pies, or anything like that.

Odd that my next category would be TS porn. And in TS porn I'm only interested in watching guys fuck TS's. I don't enjoy watching TS's w/ other TS's or TS's with women or TS's fucking guys.

Although I usually find GG's more aesthetically pleasing than TS's, I still watch more TS porn than GG porn. I'm actually not even that interested in porn any longer, and don't care that much if it is available. Although I may have simply replaced porn with escorts (I think porn addiction can be a sex addiction, contrary to the site's conclusions).

I went to a few TS parties and I think I would be attracted to some of the girls there regardless of whether I was ever was into porn. Though I'm not sure if I ever would be categorically interested in TS's as I am now without years of porn watching.

Anyone else have a similar experience?

i agree with a few points you made, but i honestly cannot say (or fathom) what i'd be into if i never watched porn.

i think like you i've become a little burned off porn- although occasionally i do enjoy one of the other films (from the 70s) here and there and about 99% of the ts porn i've seen has been on this board.

i'm not sure for me it was that i viewed too much but rather that i get bored easily (especially of the same thing). plus my girlfriend is pretty generous when it comes to debauchery so porn has become unnecessary in my life.

I see all the psychology papers on this and they all boil down to this concept:

Men keep watching more and more drastic porn to get off, therefore: it is desensitizing.

    I really think that's a false conclusion.

Men ARE hard wired to seek out new when it comes to sex. Let's face it - reverting to cavemen days, the more women a man bedded, the better the overall survival of the species. While the influence this drive for "new" varies from guy to guy, it's still present, being as extreme as cheating on a spouse or buying new outfits for your lover.

Porn producers need to appeal to that sense of "new" to all their product. Overall we in porn are not truly creative sorts. We reach for the lowest hanging fruit of new: new faces; more extreme sex; etc. I think this creates a chicken and the egg effect. It's not that guys get more desensitized - it's simply that more hardcore stuff is the "new" that's available. A truly remarkable "new" scene regaurdless of hardcoredness will get anyone off - even someone "desensitized".

IMO, YMMV, Seanchai will correct me.

    Wendy,
Don't you think both can be true?

Can't somebody be hard wired to seek "new" which works well in porn where the commitment is near zero "new" is only a click away.

Porn can still have a desensitizing effect. After all it typically does not involve human interaction. It is very self focused. There is nothing about porn that would strengthen sensitivity.

If I understand your point it is that the desire to seek new is the most important factor and not porn's desensitizing effects.

I agree that creative newness is always good for an industry, Any industry.

But what about people who go through the opposite of desensitizing? I used to watch mostly lesbian porn, but now its all spitting and cramming huge dildos up each others ass. Whatever happened to the sensuality of two women caressing each other. I personally love watching two girls make out far more than cramming 4 fingers up each others asses.

I've actually found that other than TS porn, I wind up watching a lot of 90's porn. Vivid and Wicked pictures that I picked up in my late teens and early 20's turn me on far more than most fo the stuff now. I'm not even talking about the story in the movies and that nonsense, gonzo is fine in that regard since it gets right to what I'm there to see, but it just seems like everything in porn has gone the way of fish hooking, spitting, stretched anuses, and running mascara.

Is this article and input from the peeps based on "free" internet porn or collections users have paid for? Lets face it if you can get something fun, addictive for "Free" in this world then lots of people will take it to the max and it is going to change your life somehow, Even if just a touch of RSI In your right wrist.

    shrug.

I read the article a few days ago. I dis-agree with the points it makes. At least in so far as my circumstances are concearned. First it must be said I loved genetic girls but they did not ever seem to reciprocate, ever. no I mean it ever. Yes, I am not what you would call an attractive man. Although as I age I do seem to be gaining in my own personal confidence level.
I did start off in my teens watching straight porn. Then a friend of mine, that I was staying with accidentaly left a "Shemale" video (sorry for the term) in his VCR (yes I'm old-ish). We were going to watch a movie, and I thought it had been loaded up. I have to be honest I am a bit niave, I didnt even know about the existance of transexual women. 10-15 seconds of watching it was all I needed, (Blonde Sylvia Boots) I was hooked. Well sort of (He came in and quickly turned it off, explaining red faced, that it must have been his former roomates video, "What a fag huh.") That was roughly 16 years ago.
I watch Transexual porn only now, chiefly the reason it started was because I was never able to attract a mate.I spend a lot of saturday nights alone, (and sundays, mondays, tuesdays, wednesdays, thursdays, fridays) so I turn on the computer and... Sometimes its extreme porn ie gang bangs, Trios, Most of the time its not. I watch solo Vids alot, Something I was never able to do with GG porn as it bored me to tears. I have to admit that there are certain triggers that work especially well on me when it comes to videos that I like, But those triggers vary and they seem to be cyclical. As for desensitizing me, I am a gentle soul by nature. Thats who I am, and who I always revert to being when left alone on my own.
I do notice that when I hang around "the guys"- absolutley straight heterosexual men- I will tend to become a bit more aggressive, I think that the "boys club" mentality has a more desensitizing effect than porn ever could. Men don't show feelings, Men don't ask for, they take what they want. Men play sex games with women.
Now I have to admit this, over the years I have become attracted to Transexual Women only, I have no use for, or desire to deal with genetic females at all. Even in small daily transactions at the local coffee shop ect... They annoy me. The things they worry about seem silly and disingenuous. I have since gone out of my way to meet Transgendered girls and even have gone so far as to "hire" a few...OK its been more than a few, but I understand them. I know what they are in it for, ($$$), at least I know that.
So for me I watch trans-porn because I was accidentaly exposed to it, combined with my own personal feelings of resentment toward women, which leads me to believe I was predesposed to it to begin with. Combined again with the fact that we do indeed live in a sexually charged up world.

Oh maybe that article was right??? huh
