Re: Anybody Else Not Watch A Single Minute Of The Oscars?
that's exactly how i feel about porn. many people follow things happening in porn even though they're not involved nor have anything to gain out of it.
personally, i watch the oscars as entertainment news, especially being in the entertainment industry.
thanks for sharing. i'll file it under "a sunday @ otola photography" in my memory bank

It's only available on satellite over here and I won't buy anything tainted by Rupert Murdoch.
And in any case, the anticipation greatly exceeds the event. The BBC summary told me all I needed to know and gave me another five hours of sleep.

Re: Anybody Else Not Watch A Single Minute Of The Oscars?
why would anyone watch an award show? especially the oscars... movie trailers every time you open a browser, endless commercials on tv, in magazines and 1/2 hour worth of ads when you sit in the theater. there are maybe 5 actors who at times can be somewhat believable, even robert de niro hasn't done anything noteworthy in almost 20 years... to be fair, as a sports fan the espy's are also unwatchable although at least you can respect someone who actually competes

Re: Anybody Else Not Watch A Single Minute Of The Oscars?
Over hyped awards. Cannes is probably a better read of what was the most notable work in film in any given year. Lot's of industry politics involved with the Oscars.
Just the facts that Woody Allen never bothers to show up, that Al Pacino is so often over looked and half the time best film is hard to stay awake through is all you need to know about the Academy, it is extension of an industry full of contradictions and scizonfrencally trying to balance there love of profit and admiration of art.
Just my take

I'll watch if movies I care about have been nominated, but most years, it's a bunch of movies I haven't seen and don't care about.

Way past my bedtime. As as RL says only available via Murdoch's channels (or perhaps live streamed somewhere on the web) . And dull anyway. Almost a carbon copy of our own Baftas.
