But what about the silent majority of the transgendered - those women going about their lives and facing the day to day emotional and physical and employment challenges of being a TS woman? I don't see any indications that this will look at that at all. I suspect the drive here is to make a sexy programme which admirers will love. But which won't break or challenge stereotypes at all. It's an opportunity missed?

Actually, I know the director. The video is extremely cheesy and he was not happy with how it came out. He actually went in with a new focus and re-did the trailer for the documentary and featured only 3 musicians (Angelica Ross, Sissy, and Ryder) and did solo performances with each of them. They pulled in the two guys who did Taxi Cab Confessionals to get the story-telling aspect right. I was there on set and they did a great job. They are currently having meetings with major networks to get the docu-series placed which would delve in the music and personal lives of Angelica, Sissy, and Ryder. All three women are passable, attractive, actually talented and come from diverse backgrounds. I'm obviously a little bias because of Ryder's involvement (she was not in the Changes video...she came on board after the re-focusing) but I do support projects like this. The Changes video is bad though. Very bad. I laughed too At the end of the day you can't blame the subjects...it's the director's ultimate vision for these documentaries that makes them a hit or miss. Seems like you either get an overtly sexual doc with very extreme subjects or super cheesy, tacky docs that make trans people look looney and just sad.

Let's at least TRY to highlight some of the best and brightest out here. I'm tired of seeing the girls who have obviously made some terrible choices with their faces and bodies. It's like THAT has become the appeal. I'd rather see a regular chick who can tell her story candidly yet still be respectable and interesting and beautiful. I really question the judgement of some of these "filmmakers". While everyone deserves an opportunity to share their experience, somebody has to do the hard job of making sure we aren't hurting the perception of trans women with this shit. This shit isn't a documentary, it's a glorified backpage advertisement...

A candid documentary on t-girl porn stars would be awesome! A documentary about college-aged trans women would be great too. It's not about being sexy and exotic, it's about understanding responsibility for the advancement of the community and what the world needs to see right now.
I have to agree with a lot of what you have written.

The woman in the black 'I (heart) Hollywood' t-shirt should NOT be in with the others. If you want to include in the documentary, that would be ok maybe, but not in a promotional video.

This I have to scoff at

Rarely do they find jobs for transsexuals, but restaurant jobs and minimum wage.

I come from this area of activism. I am quite aware of all the stuff behind it.

I worked as an activist from 16 to 25...

When I entered porn..they said BYE BYE..

I worked as a social worker and Office manager for doctors/surgeons and made between $12 to $18 an hour, but after bills, education bills, and paying for hormones, laser, and other amenities.

I still never had enough money left over for surgery, so tell me how working minimum wage going to pay for transition?

In Canada they pay for SRS and Hormones, but we live in America. Nothing comes free...

That's again why so many girls order offline, which I am not a fan of!

I think it's centered on the club itself...so whoever works there is in it. Like Cat House.

You can't expect cis people to understand why it would be difficult for trans women to find lucrative work, or at least work that isn't laughable. Realistically, most ts are concerned with hormones and surgery first. It's just the truth. They need enough money to pay for corrective cosmetic work FIRST before they can think about being productive members of society. This is just real.

If you've never had to use any of these resources you've posted, then you would not understand how much BULLSHIT goes on with these programs. I personally was just told this morning that the waiting list at the LA Gay and Lesbian center is 8 months, just to see their ONE doctor who is only there 3x a month. It is the same with LGBT job assistance programs. Not enough resources to truly make a difference whereas porn and escorting put money in your pocket right away, with no hassle.
