I'm a huge Hockey fan and can honestly say I have never heard any controversy about Satan's name. You hear silly remarks and see some great signs at games but for the most part nobody in america cares and I doubt they ever did or will considering most americans don't give a shit about hockey anyway.

funny story. a good friend of mine's great grand father came through ellis island and his name ended in "ofsky" but with a deep polish accent, the immingration officer didn't understand him and lopped that part off and shortened the surname to a more anglo-sounding name.

when he was first drafted by edmonton, some church groups were outraged over the name being on official merchandise. it wasn't a big deal per se because ultimately, hockey is like the 12th most favored sport in the US behind the likes of baseball, bowling and competitive skee-ball. some people were debating whether the NHL should allow him to put the accent over the S.

its a bad ass name to have on the back of your jersey.

he wouldn't have been a good fit, there were so many players better than him. He barely even played during the year his team won the cup of course it was also near the end of his NHL career.
