April 12, 2006 -- A California man was blinded in one eye at a Brooklyn hotel after he got into a confrontation with two transvestites who passed him a bogus $100 bill, cops said yesterday.

The attack on Michael Hartwig, 64, was followed by the heroics of a 14-year-old good Samaritan, who saw the cross-dressing duo flee and helped cops nab them, sources said.

Hartwig, who lives in Rio Vista, was in the Best Western on Fourth Avenue in Bay Ridge at 8:45 p.m. Monday when Dwyer Lopez, 30, and Eileen Rivera, 43, walked into the lobby.

Rivera allegedly approached Hartwig in the bar and asked him to break a $100 bill. Hartwig exchanged it for five $20 bills.

After Rivera walked away, Hartwig showed the bill to the bartender, Helen Angeroa, who discovered it was bogus, the sources said.

Hartwig and Angeroa went to look for Rivera, but the blond-haired, skirt-wearing Lopez allegedly tried to prevent them from going outside.

Hartwig got past Lopez and confronted Rivera, who allegedly jammed his right thumb into Hartwig's left eye, rupturing his eyeball.

As the trannies fled, Mohammed Abdel Habi, 14, saw the duo run into a nearby building. The boy pointed out the building to cops.

Hartwig underwent surgery at Downstate Hospital.
