Facial Feminization Surgery (FFS) refers to surgical procedures, which will alter a masculine face to a feminine shape through the use of plastic surgery, reconstructive surgery, and maxillofacial surgery.

Procedures range from the use of soft tissue procedures, facial fillers, implants, to more invasive procedures involving the buring (grinding) of facial bones, and the cutting (osteotomy) of facial bones.

Due to the fact people differ in facial characteristics; a combination of serval procedures may need to be used to alter the face to the desired result to feminize the face. Most people refer to Facial Feminization Surgery as FFS when describing it.

There are a number of surgical procedures that can be used to feminize the face when it comes to FFS. Depending on your facial structure and degree of masculine features, one or many of the following procedures can be used to feminize the transsexual face:

Forehead contouring: Complated by a high speed bur
Forehead reconstruction: Complated by cutting out a section or sections of the frontal skull
Forehead compression/controlled facture: Research in progress
Jaw tapering: Completed by a high speed bur or a bone saw
Chin contouring/Mentoplasty: Completed by a high speed bur and or chin inplant
Sliding genioplasty: Completed by cutting and removing the chin
Cheekbone augmentation Through the use of implants
Cheekbone reduction Complated by a high speed bur
Lip contouring/Lip lift
trachea shave
blepharoplasty (Eyelid surgery to correct sagging or drooping of the eyelids)
Rhinoplasty
Facial Implants
Facial Fillers
Facelift

This surgery is not limited to female to male transsexuals; since there are also options that can be applied to help female to male transsexuals using this type of surgery to obtain masculine features. I will be adding Facial Masculinization Surgery information at a future date.

Did the person in that virtual FFS poster actually go through with it or was it just a simulation to see what could be done?

I also have heard that it is best to wait until you have done hormones for few years to see how it reshapes your face?

And the surgeon can only do so much - a man with a face with heavily male characteristics is not really going to turn into a beauty queen , right? Also, I think the size of the skull cannot be changed as well

I think you're right about that. Hormones change the skin texture and the distribution of fat in your body and face, so it can look more feminine with time. Hormones of course will never change your bone structure (they might alter your bone density though, but don't quote me on that I'm not too sure about it).

i had FFS in thailand in sept 2010 .. i had my mandibles reduced, my jaw bone reduce, my lips shaped, my chin reshaped and reduce.. my nose first part of nose work done ..

It took me about 2months to not look like a football and like a year for the full swelling to go away ..

i have some more FFS tweaks next year schedule to finish of my face .. to clean up the core work from the first bout ..

so next time i will have the following

- Brow lift
- 2nd part of Nose work (rhinoplasty) (reduce tip/width and slight upturn, pack out top of nose to remove the lump i have.)
- cheek implants
- lower/mini face lift to remove excess skin left over from jaw reduction previously. basically to tighten the skin to the new jaw line so its sharp and clean looking, also move of the muscle under jaw/chin to set it back so it doesnt show .. you know that double chin look etc ..

I think FFS is the key most surgery for a TS that needs face work unless your very young and have a naturally good structure face .. i didnt have that as i transition at 30 .. the world interacts with your face not your pussy ...

Exactly. I wish more TS knew this. I mean, I know it is a personal choice but I don't understand why some are so eager to get the SRS while still looking very veeery masculine, as if a vagina is gonna validate their female status when they don't look female at all.
