The thing is, it doesn't take a whole lot of extra time... a simple three point lighting scheme, knowing your lenses, frame rate, abiding by the rule of thirds and a sturdy tripod with a ball head mount. If you go in with a plan, a simple stick figure story board and the will to do some good then it's easy as pie to knock out. The rest is taken care of in post... a little color correction, a few edits... Bam. Cool lookin' porn.
