Sounds like one of my old hearses. I'm out of the loop on new cars. What, pray tell, is a 'Lightning'? The last landbarge I drove regularly (A 1991 Lincoln Corporate stretch) would do the round trip to NY on a single tank (Eighteen gallons, which worked out to about 13 +/- MPG @ an average 60mph).

The boss was always impressed that I could do the trip on a single tank while everyone else used 1 1/2 to 2 tanks on the same distance. I pointed out that battleships weren't meant to do the zero-to-sixty drag racing thing and I seemed to be the only one thast understood that.

The Rolls, a standard Silver Shadow sedan, was another matter. I was impressed when I got it to Manhattan without having to stop for gas on the way. I was less impressed when, thirty gallons later, I realized how big the tank was. That's roughly 5 MPG +/- on the highway. You don't need to be rich to buy a Rolls, but if you actually want to =use= it...

This needs a bump! Gas prices are up 0.13cents. $3.33 to $3.89 here in California.
